About the CNMI SLDS

The CNMI Statewide Longitudinal Data System (SLDS), managed by the CNMI Public School System (PSS), is the central hub for connecting information from preschool through the workforce. With federal support, the SLDS links data that was once siloed and transforms it into secure, reliable insights that help educators, agencies, and policymakers support students and strengthen communities across the Marianas.

Why It Matters

Behind every number is a person — a student, a family, a community. The SLDS helps us:
  • Identify challenges early – Spot trends in student progress, attendance, or transitions before they become larger issues.
  • Track learner journeys – Follow progress from preschool through graduation and into careers.
  • Support planning and growth – Help leaders align education, training, and workforce needs across the islands.

Connecting Data Across Education and Workforce

We link data across the full P20W pipeline—from preschool through workforce—including:
  • P–12 Education – Student and staff information from PSS
  • Postsecondary in CNMI – Enrollment, completion, and non-degree credentials from NMC & NMTech
  • Postsecondary outside CNMI – Degree data from the National Student Clearinghouse
  • Workforce – Employment, wages, and non-degree credentials from DOC, DOF & DOL

This creates a clearer picture of how students move from school to careers, and how programs can better serve the needs of our islands.

Our Partners & Data Governance

The SLDS is built by partnerships across education and workforce agencies. Together, these agencies form the P20W Data Governance Committee, which sets rules for how data is shared, protected, and used responsibly.
  • Decisions made together
  • Privacy and security safeguarded
  • Shared goals guide the work
